You Know You're Tired When...

  • your baby screams like he's terrified or in pain in the middle of the night but you can't raise yourself from your pillow.
  • your toddler bawls because the baby is screaming and instead of sympathizing, all you can think is that as long as one is crying the other will too so now you're locked into a cycle you cannot break.
  • you actually consider for more than a moment whether sleeping in your vehicle might be a good idea.
  • you stand in front of the refrigerator/pantry/freezer/etc for a good 20 minutes trying to remember what you are making and what you were going to take out of said refrigerator/pantry/freezer.
  • you seriously debate with yourself if you really need a shower since you just took one 2 days ago... and your sleepy self almost trumps your dirty self.
  • when you do sleep, all the craziness of the days and nights melds into horrific nightmares, resulting "subtraction sleep" in which you wake up more tired than you were before.
  • the kids start fighting or get hurt and all you can do is stare at them or walk away.
  • you sit down to read a book and discover after reading a page that you can't remember one word.... OR you discover that you've been reading the same paragraph over and over without comprehending any of it.
  • all you can think to blog about is a list of symptoms of fatigue as manifested in the mother of four!
