I don't write on any particular subject exclusively, much less on medical topics. I'm not a medical professional, but I work at a hospital and I am the parent of a child with complex, chronic medical problems and have learned a lot this way.
However, I do read a few medical blogs, mostly by those in training to be doctors, and recently read a call to submit posts on the topic of medical professionals as people for a semi-weekly feature called Grand Rounds that rotates between medical bloggers. Grand Rounds, for those of you who aren't regulars at hospitals, in "real life" is a large gathering of medical students and professionals which features speakers on pertinent topics to that particular medical organization. In the blogging community, it's a gathering of blog posts of interest to the person hosting Grand Rounds that week.
I decided to take a chance and submitted this article for consideration, and I got included on my first try! My thanks to Dr. Couz for reading it and considering it worth including.
Welcome to all you first-time readers!
