This time was no different. But then I suddenly thought perhaps I should lay Anna down first and let her fall asleep. Then Sam could lay down and fall asleep in peace. If I put them both down together in the same room, they usually start playing together and no sleeping occurs.
So I said, "How 'bout this? Let's let Anna go to bed first. Then you can take a nap later."
Sam replied, "No! I want to go first!"
Hah. Sibling rivalry can work in a parent's favor!

I'm going to grow the hibiscus in front of these morning glories along the fence straight out the back sliding glass door so I can see them when I'm working in the kitchen. Should be a pretty combination.

I'm in organizing and tidying mode. I went to Home Depot today and bought a big 16-inch deep shelf to hang in the one big closet we have in our house. I desperately need places to store large bulk items like paper towels and toilet paper. I think I'm going to attempt hanging it myself this afternoon. I've been asking for Scott to do it for a few weeks and he just doesn't have time. Bummer... I have a few minor things I need to take care of first, like dinner and dishes. Maybe the shelf hanging will have to wait until after we put the kids to bed.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to get some canvas storage bins in various sizes. I have a lot of loose craft and office supplies that I'd like to corral in an attractive way. We also need curtains in the family room, since the cat keeps crawling through the mini-blinds and breaking them. She's on her third set of mini-blinds. However, I'm not sure which is better - broken mini-blinds or fur-coated curtains. Anyway, a local store seems to be having a sale. So we'll see how much I can afford to do now and what will have to wait.

I'm getting suspicious about the state of Anna's ears again. She has been extremely cranky and clingy the last day and a half. She has taken micro-naps and slept poorly. This is about the time the urgent care doc said she might start showing signs of an ear infection. She is definitely still congested. I think I'll call the pediatrician and see if I can get her in tonight.
Nope. No such luck. We'll have to wait until tomorrow morning. I hope Tylenol will get us through. Not sure how I'm going to make dinner since she doesn't want me to put her down.

Needless to say, I've done no knitting lately. Last night I went to a committee meeting on the redesign of the Heart Center at Children's. I was pooped when I got home and my remaining energy went to birthday planning for Anna.
