Pictures!

I gave up on my computer. Scott's laptop is here today, so I am finally able to bring you the first installment of Joy's Homemade Christmas gifts, plus a bonus pic just for fun.

First up is the Christmas tree skirt that Heather and I made for mom. (Mine still isn't done, and now that Christmas is past, I'm not as motivated to work on it. Could also be that I'm just now feeling recovered from the hustle and bustle. I finally feel like working on more projects, and of course have started new ones. But that's quite a rabbit trail. We had a GREAT time making this for Mom and I learned a lot that I will apply to mine. I love how it turned out and Mom just couldn't believe that we had found time to make her something.

This is Elli sporting her hat. It's a little big on her and I haven't yet found a solution to the problem of headrests on wheelchairs. The headrest tends to push the hat down over her eyes. I suppose a safety pin attaching it to the neck of her clothing would work, but it isn't very speedy for getting hats on and off. Anyway, it's cute and keeps her head warm, which is the point, after all!

Anna was suitably impressed by her new hooded towel. I found these incredibly soft and super-huge towels at Meijer - perfect for bundling up soaking-wet kids fresh out of the tub. I made one for each of the kids and for both my nieces. Sam's is brown with leopard trim and little ears, Elli's is a dusty purple with Beauty and the Beast trim, Millie's is a brighter pink than Anna's with green trim with pink rosebuds, and Allison's is light blue with Cinderella trim. A fun and fast project!

I love this picture. Poor Anna has a cold so she wasn't impressed by the snow or the sled. But Elli and Sam had a BLAST. The sled is a plastic tobaggan style and allows for multiple people to sit and for Elli to lay down. I actually want a snowy winter this year!
