It was so warm today that after dinner, we took the kids on a walk to the park in our neighborhood. Sam rode his bike and Anna rode in the backpack carrier on Daddy's back.
When we arrived at the park, we noticed a lot of new improvements. They have posted boxes of bags for cleaning up after dogs, added some landscaping, and scattered picnic tables about. The best improvement is the addition of a portable toilet near the playground.
Background information: When I was a child, I hated portable toilets and "pit potties." In fact, I once wrote a poem entitled, "Ode to a Pit Potty" in which I described this soul-deep aversion. I would wait for hours to avoid using such facilities.
Sam spotted it, heard us commenting on it, and promptly announced that he needed to go potty. I stayed in the parking lot with Elli, letting Scott take care of this one.
Sam marched right in, and Scott stood in the doorway to make sure he did fine. All of a sudden, Scott busted up laughing and gave me the funniest look.
"Sam said, 'It's really nice in here!'"
