So much for my food poisoning theory. My sister has been staying here this week because she had a couple job interviews near us. Last night she came down with Scott's 24-hour stomach flu. It's exactly the same thing. We're really hoping that it's genuinely 24 hours so that she's feeling better tonight and able to go on her retreat this weekend (they leave tomorrow morning at 9am).
This morning Elli refused to eat her usual breakfast. She urped some of the stuff she was willing to drink. It wasn't a full vomit, but she's definitely not feeling herself.
Anna isn't happy either, though she may have a cold, not the flu. Or teething pain. She also has a bad diaper rash. Poor girl -- she has many reasons to be miserable today!
I'm surrounded by germs, and am pretty much figuring that it will hit me within the next 24 hour-36 hours. Scott went out this morning and bought a 12-pack of Sprite. It seems the beverage of choice for those recovering from this thing.
I'm going to reschedule Elli's birthday party for next weekend so we don't share the love with our entire extended family. I figure that even if I'm hit with this tonight, I won't be able to get ready for a party even though I would be feeling better by Friday evening. Plus, I have no idea how this is spreading or how long a person is contagious. We made the mistake 2 Christmases ago of travelling too soon after we all had the stomach flu and ended up giving it to everyone staying where we were. I vowed never again to repeat that mistake.
So now I'm trying to decide what food to serve everyone today. Basically it boils down to one question: What is the least objectionable thing to see a second time?
