Elli practiced driving a power wheelchair Monday afternoon. For the first time, she tried using a "head array" to direct the chair. A pad behind her head controls start and stop. A pad to the left of her head turns the chair left, a pad on the right turns the chair right. I'm not sure how reverse works yet!
For the first time, Elli was very successful! She has been practicing with another boy who is learning as well, so they chased each other around the halls, and she discovered the joys of crashing into walls. Around one corner, she found a door that opened when she bumped it.
Missy, the physical therapist working with her stopped her and said, "Oh! Elli! You can't go in there! That's the boys' bathroom!"
Elli immediately grinned and resumed opening the door. Missy stopped her, pulled her back, and straightened her out to continue down the hall. Elli made an immediate left and giggling like every other six-year-old-girl, headed back to the bathrooom.
